Deconstruction (Band)

From Jane's Addiction Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Deconstruction was the first post Jane's Addiction musical effort for Eric Avery and Dave Navarro. Michael Murphy was the band's drummer. The band put out a single self-titled album, a promo and music video for their song L.A. Song. Deconstruction never toured, and outside of their legit releases, the only remaining recordings of the band are demos.

Initially, Steve Perkins was going to be a part of Deconstruction. Steve has always been on good terms with Eric and Dave and the three planned on working together after the demise of Jane's Addiction. However, Warner Brothers was not pleased with the demise of Jane's Addiction, just as their popularity was skyrocketing, nor did they like the idea of three-fourths of the band continuing to work together in a different band while Jane's Addiction was still under contract. In the end, Steve continued working with Infectious Grooves and then moved on to work with Perry Farrell on Porno For Pyros.

Touring

Deconstruction never toured. While Dave Navarro had an interest in touring to support the band and album, Eric Avery was still recovering from the near nonstop touring from his time in Jane's Addiction.

Future

While Eric Avery, Dave Navarro and Michael Murphy ended the band on good terms, Deconstruction cannot record again under the same name. Before the band's album was released, there was some legal trouble regarding the band's name from a band with the same name, based out of the United Kingdom. A messy legal battle was averted when the U.K. band was assured that this was a one-off deal. Therefore, if the trio (or any set of them) want to record together again, they would have to use a different name.
