Hellride

Hellride is a cover band comprised of Steve Perkins, Mike Watt and Peter DiStefano. They primarily cover songs by The Stooges, reinterpreted with a twist of jazz legend John Coltrane, but also cover a handful of other songs and perform them in the same vein. The band frequently plays at 14 Below in Santa Monica, CA, but has also played a handful of other clubs in the greater Los Angeles area. They have only played outside of the greater L.A. area three times. Hellride has no official releases, however they have an open taping policy, so most of their shows are freely traded among fans.

Interestingly enough, Iggy Pop asked Mike Watt to replace the late Dave Alexander and join a reunited Stooges in 2003. Watt has remained with the band since, spending spent much of 2007 on tour.
