Peter DiStefano (b. July 10, 1965, Los Angeles, CA) is the original guitarist for Porno For Pyros. Pete DiStefano (pronounced Dih-Stef-eh-no) also plays with fellow Porno members Steve Perkins and Mike Watt in the band Hellride. Pete has a number of solo albums out, works with a plethora of other artists, is very active in writing and performing scores for films, and also works as a producer.

Peter is married to Lorene Fields DiStefano, the couple has a daughter named Doran. In an interview which can be seen on the Venice Underground DVD, Pete talks about how being a husband and a father for his family is the most important thing to him. Peter has a tattoo of his daughter's name on his left arm.

Battle With Cancer

Peter was diagnosed with testicular cancer during the Good God's Urge tour. Pete immediately underwent treatment, the cancer went into remission and he has recovered completely. He now gets checked by his doctor out bi-annually.

It should be noted that while Pete was battling his cancer, Pete's father, Vito DiStefano was battling prostate cancer, as mentioned in the Porno For Pyros song Pete's Dad Vito's fight was not as successful. Pete's father passed away in March of 2001.

Porno For Pyros is rescheduling all further touring plans to enable guitarist Peter DiStefano to undergo chemotherapy treatment to fight cancer Peter's treatment is in its early stages, and his doctors are optimistic that the chemotherapy and the rest will enable him to recover fully.
