These are bands not directly related to any of the members of Jane's Addiction, or any of their side projects, but are bands that members have played or worked with.

Bauhaus

Jane's Addiction covered their song Burning From The Inside as part of their medley Bobhaus.

Body Count

Heavy metal band fronted by rapper Ice-T. Ice-T and drummer Ernie C performed a cover of the Sly & The Family Stone song Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey. Body Count was part of the original Lollapalooza tour.

Butthole Surfers

Part of the original Lollapalooza tour in 1991. Remixed Jane's Addiction's Ocean Size for the compilation Music For Our Mother Ocean 3.

The Doors

Los Angeles based band who's song L.A. Woman Jane's Addiction covered and incorporated into their cover-medley L.A. Medley. Perry Farrell is a huge fan of Jim Morrison and performed with the surviving members of The Doors on the Stoned Immaculate album. Satellite Party also performs the previously unreleased Door's tune Woman in the Window on their debut album.

Extra Fancy

L.A. based band who was managed by former Porno for Pyros manager Paul V.. Perry Farrell appears on the song Benzedrine Shuffle on their album Sinnerman. Extra Fancy's lead singer Brian Grillo was the lead singer for the band Lock-Up.

Fishbone

L.A. based funk band that came up around the same time and from the same scene as Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Opened for Jane's Addiction a number of times over the years. Chris Dowd and Angelo Moore both performed, along with Flea, as the horn section on the Jane's Addiction song Idiots Rule. Perry Farrell appeared on their album The Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx. Jane's Addiction, along with Fishbone and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at the A Father's Benefit show for Fishbone's bassist Norwood Fisher.

Garbage

Eric Avery toured with Garbage during their 2005 Bleed Like Me tour. He also appeared in the music video for their song Sex Is Not The Enemy, which was partially recorded during the band's April 21, 2005 concert in Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club.

The Germs

Los Angeles based band who's song Lexicon Devil Jane's Addiction covered and incorporated into their cover-medley L.A. Medley. Dave Navarro also appeared on the A Small Circle of Friends tribute album with his side-project Ruined Eye.

Guns N' Roses

Dave Navarro was invited to join GNR after founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin left the band. Dave declined the invitation but later performed with the band on the track Oh My God! for the soundtrack of the movie End of Days.

Hybrid

Hybrid's song Dogstar is essentially a remix of Satellite Party's Wish Upon A Dogstar, which Perry Farrell and Peter DiStefano both perform on. Peter DiStefano was the band's guitarist for their 2007 tour.

Ian Dury & The Blockheads

Perry Farrell used a line from their song Sex & Drugs & Rock 'N' Roll as part of the intro to the song Ain't No Right.

Led Zeppelin

Jane's Addiction performed a cover of their song Whole Lotta Love live once in 1990. Perry Farrell later recorded a new solo cover of the song on the Rev compilation.

Living Colour

Part of the original Lollapalooza tour. Beat Jane's Addiction's Ritual de lo Habitual for the Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy award in 1991 with their Time's Up album.

Lock-Up

L.A. band that Tom Morello, guitarist for Rage Against The Machine, and Brian Grillo, vocalist of Extra Fancy, were in. Lock-Up opened for Jane's Addiction on December 31, 1988 at The Embasy Hotel Theatre in Los Angeles. During the show, they came on stage dressed as Jane's Addiction and performed a cover of the song Pigs In Zen.

Love & Rockets

Jane's opened for Love & Rockets in 1987. Love & Rockets would later open for Porno For Pyros in 1996, including appearing as part of the original Enit festival. David J. and Daniel Ash both appeared on the Porno album Good God's Urge. David J. and Daniel Ash's previous band Bauhaus, which includes lead singer Peter Murphy, was a major influence of Eric Avery and Perry Farrell. Avery would perform with Peter on his solo album Unshattered.

Lowen & Navarro

Dave Navarro's cousin Dan Navarro's band. Dave appears on their albums Walking on a Wire and Broken Moon.

Metallica

Eric Avery, with the encouragement of Flea, auditioned for Metallica after the departure of bassist Jason Newstead. Eric said he did it mostly to say that he auditioned, but wasn't sure he'd have accepted the job if it was offered to him, which it was not. Members of Metallica said they were uninterested in Eric when they saw he played with a pick and prefer the sound of finger-plucked strings. Footage of Eric's audition can be seen in the movie Some Kind of Monster. Metallica's ...And Justice For All infamously lost the 1989 Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance to Jethro Tull's Crest of a Knave the same year Jane's Addiction's album Nothing's Shocking was nominated. Metallica was also the controversial headliner for the 1996 Lollapalooza festival.

Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor sampled Perry Farrell screaming Ahhh, Booga Booga! from the Jane's Addiction song Had A Dad in his song Ringfinger on the album ==Pretty Hate Machine==. Eric Avery and Dave Navarro joined NIN on stage at select shows of the original Lollapalooza tour in 1991. Dave Navarro appears on the remix Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now) on the Further Down The Spiral album. Steve Perkins was invited into the studio and laid down some drum work for the album The Downward Spiral, while he is only officially credited on the song I Do Not Want This, samples of his work are apparently sprinkled throughout the album.

Rage Against The Machine

Steve Perkins appeared on the bands' debut album. RATM guitarist Tom Morello was a member of the band Lock-Up who had a memorable opening performance for Jane's Addiction in late 1988.

The Rolling Stones

Jane's Addiction covered the Stone's famous song Sympathy for the Devil as Sympathy for their self-titled debut album. Dave Navarro noted that he has never been a fan of the band.

Rollins Band

Band fronted by former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins. Opened for Jane's Addiction for a number of shows in 1991. Was also a part of the original Lollapalooza tour in 1991.

Sly & The Family Stone

Funk band, who's song Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey was covered by Jane's Addiction.

The Stooges

Punk band fronted by Iggy Pop. Jane's Addiction covered their song 1970, and both Jane's Addiction and Porno For Pyros covered their song I Got A Right. Hellride covers a number of their songs, adding their own twist, during live performances. Hellride and Porno For Pyros bassist Mike Watt was invited to join the band when they reunited in 2003.

Tool

Tool's Maynard Keenan invited Eric Avery to replace bassist Paul D'Amour. Eric was suggested as the replacement by former Jane's Addiction and then-current Tool manager Ted Gardner. Eric declined the invitation, saying he wanted to concentrate on Polar Bear. Tool played Lollapalooza '93 and Lollapalooza '97.

The Velvet Underground

Jane's Addiction covered VU's Rock & Roll for their self-titled debut album, and Dave Navarro covered VU's Venus In Furs for his solo debut.
